Vervain
- Verbena
officinalis
The
Romans used Vervain to purify their homes, and to
spread on Jupiter’s altars, and throughout the 17th
century was still being used in fortune telling
rites. Considered “a strong spiritual herb capable
of healing holes in the human aura...” the plant
is also revered by Druids.
Vervain
is generally used as a relaxing remedy for nervous
problems, and as a tonic in convalescence and debility,
as well as being a useful liver tonic. Helpful in
nerve pains and migraines it can be taken topically
as a compress, or internally and makes a good alternative
to tea and coffee, nourishing and fortifying the
nervous system and relaxing stress and tension.
